ABOUT THE DESIGNER

Jeffrey Sebelia has been busy.
For the last ten years he’s steadily explored the fashion industry, in Los Angeles and elsewhere. From 1998-2003 he was a production designer and stylist for music videos and commercials. Then he focused his interests more sharply towards fashion.
Sebelia attended LA Trade Technical college, where he studied pattern making, draping and construction. He interned with 2 local designers and then founded the label Cosa Nostra.
Cosa Nostra started out designing and hand constructing one of a kind jackets and dresses for celebrities and designers. In Nov 2003, Cosa Nostra made their 1st shipments to Fred Segal and Maxfield, selling out almost immediately.
In 2004, Cosa Nostra developed their first full men’s and women’s collection, and the label was honored as a GENart New Guard Designer. They were sold through the News Showroom in Soho NYC, and Unit and Guest in Tokyo. The clothes have been shipped and worn all over the world by a long list of famous people and icons.
In 2006, Jeffrey participated in the television sensation Project Runway. He won the show and gained a great amount of attention for his professional mischievous talent. As the show afforded him a new realm of exposure and opportunities, Sebelia pushed the boundaries of his comfort zone.
Frustrated with the limited accessibility of the pricey Cosa Nostra label, he debuted a contemporary line for the holiday season of 2008. Good Vig, with its softer edges, lower price points and more wearable aesthetic, is now going into it’s third season. It’s been featured in Women’s Wear Daily, and has solidified his standing as a designer with an expanded vocabulary. Good Vig has shown that even when simplified, Sebelia still creates a signature style.
As the world evolves chaotically, Jeffrey’s once upside-down perspective has come around to rightside-up. He is a loving father and dedicated to maintaining a clear eyed creative empathy with the world around him.
With all respect: A work in progress.
